According to NCT’s Mark, Jimmy Fallon gave the group some helpful advice before their appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year—and they didn’t take it!

Last month, NCT 127 became the first K-pop group ever to perform at the historic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The group took part in the parade by riding on one of its signature colorful floats and waving at the large crowds, in addition to performing the English version of their song “Highway to Heaven.”

In a recent interview in Chicago, Mark revealed that when they met up with Jimmy Fallon and The Black Eyed Peas before the parade, the famous American talk show host offered them some useful advice for their first appearance.

Mark recalled, “We met Jimmy Fallon, and he gave us a tip that you shouldn’t use all of your voice while going around [in the parade], because [the crowd] actually can’t hear you, and it’s actually just bad for you, because you’re just straining your throat.”

However, Mark went on to share that once they actually got to the parade and saw their fans in the crowd, the NCT 127 members got too excited to heed his advice and ended up losing their voices anyway.

“But when we got up there, we just felt like we had to,” said Mark. “And by the time we were done, we were just all so cold, and our voices were all gone because we were screaming at our fans. And it was really fun, because we shared our energies together, and our music was playing, and we were on this LEGO float. We got a lot of energy, and we gave a lot of energy back.”
